3RD SITTING OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT
The 109 distinguished Honourable Members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament are meeting officially for the Third Sitting within their two years in office. It should be recalled that the Youth Parliament was inaugurated by late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua, the immediate former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on August 25, 2008, at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja. The Parliament is to serve as a training ground for the Nigerian youth to imbibe the culture of sustainable democracy through legislative processes. It also gives rooms to the young people to be key stakeholders in the federal government’s policies’ formulations and implementations.
The Parliament activities are being coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and its sittings are facilitated by the National Assembly (NASS). While the First Sitting was held from August 25 – 29, 2008, the Second Sitting was held from August 17 – 21, 2009. According to the Programme of Event for the Third Sitting, which was scheduled to be held from September 20 – 25, 2010, the line-up activities are as summarized below:

Fellow Nigerian Youths, both at home and in diaspora, this is the agenda of this year’s Sitting. As presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Business Rules, it enumerates the issues for discussion. We will all look into it and finally form part of our debates during the plenary sessions.
